Greater Things Are Yet To Come
Text : Job 42: 12- "The Lord blessed the latter part of Job's life more than the first."
How do you look at your tomorrows? Full of hope or full of hopelessness? With positivity or with negativity? Full of joy or full of sadness? Full of tiredness or full of strength? Years full of regrets or full years?
Sometimes, when we've gone through a difficult life, there's a tendency to say, "I dont wanna face my tomorrows anymore. I'm tired....when would these hardships end?" That would be our reaction when we fail to spend time with God and his word and when we always look at our hard situation. Been there...done that. But when we spend time with God, we would see our tomorrows with fullness of hope and greater vision. Yes, there's a beautiful tomorrow waiting for you and me.
Life may be difficult sometimes...full of struggles...different problems arise...different people to deal with...difficult situations to face... but the life giver...the author of life- God, is the hope for our tomorrows.
As i read the book of Job again during my devotions, I've learned a lot. I was encouraged and strengthened to face my tomorrows. Reading it again made me appreciate life more especially the text above, "The Lord blessed the latter part of Job's life more than the first."
Job had experienced too much difficulties in life. At first, he had great riches. God has blessed him with great riches and beautiful family but Satan ruined his life. In just one day, Job lost everything...his sons and daughters...his livestock...his servants...his house and the following day, Satan afflicted him with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. His wife mocked him. His friends said things that were not pleasing to the Lord. He used to be well respected by people (Job 29:11)...whoever heard him spoke well of him and those who saw him commended him (v 21) but when he was in his difficult situation, people mocked him...even his brothers and relatives were not there to comfort him....what a hopeless situation!
But, the Lord blessed the latter part of Job's life more than the first. In Job 42:10, it says, "the Lord made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before." God even gave him another sons and daughters and in verse 15, it says, "nowhere in all the land were there found women as beautiful as Job's daughters..." (how i wish i was one of Job's daughters:)). Job 42:16-17 say, "After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. And so Job died, an old man and full of years." Wow! What an encouragement! Imagine what had happened to him but still, he was full of years. God is really good!
How are you today? Hopeless? Not knowing what tomorrow may bring? There's hope in your tomorrows for the Lord Jesus has overcome the enemy and He is victorious and He has given us victory. Just like Job, God is able to restore your life and He is able to bless the latter part of your life than the first....twice as much as before. God is our hope for our tomorrows.
You may be experiencing hardships today...don't give up! Cling on God. He is able to bless you today and the latter part of your life twice as much as before. He is able to give you full years! Remember, greater things are yet to come!
(Note: in my cellphone for my alarm clock, i recorded my voice saying "greater things are yet to come, rise!" So, every time i wake up, i am reminded that greater things are yet to come...because God is always there.)
